The role

PE Global are currently recruiting for a Registered Manager for a residential Children’s home based in Keynsham

 

Duties of the role

  • To ensure that the home and staff operate in full accordance with all statutory, regulatory and

standards requirements including:

  • Children Acts 1989 & 2004
  • Care Standards Act 2000
  • Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023, et al
  • To ensure that all children and young people have their needs met, their welfare promoted at all

times and that they are safeguarded from any harm abuse, neglect, exploitation, etc.

  • To understand, embrace and promote the Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP) model of care,

ensuring it is embedded throughout all areas of the home in line with values, the DDP framework

and the Statement of Purpose (SoP)

  • To be responsible for the development, control, coordination, and support of the staff group
  • To supervise the Deputy Manager, enabling them to supervise and support the staff team
  • To be responsible for ensuring that effective records are maintained in accordance with Children’s

Homes Regulations 2015, and associated legislation and standards

  • To be responsible for all aspects of budgetary control relating to the home
  • To be responsible for coordinating admissions and discharges for the home and responding

flexibly to requests for service, within the context of individual agreements and the home’s

  • To deliver a co-ordinated service through effective liaison with the Social Workers, all other

connected professional agencies (including the Virtual School, CAMHS, etc.) and parents/carers

  • To be responsible, in connection with the day-to-day management of children and young people,

for liaison with Social Workers, GPs, Education staff other statutory and voluntary agencies,

parents & carers

  • To work effectively and responsibly with Commissioning Partners, Police, LSCB and Ofsted etc.
  • To hold regular staff meetings and to keep staff fully informed of PCM policy and practices
  • To ensure that an Area and Location Risk Assessment (ALRA) is maintained and reviewed on a

least an annual basis, capturing the views feelings of children and young people placed (about

their experiences of the area) as part of that process

  • To ensure that an independent Regulation 44 visitor maintains regular and timely visits to the

home, to provide and independent opinion of the effectiveness of the home in safeguarding

children and young people and promoting their welfare

  • To maintain a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of care within the home.

Additionally, to carry out such duties as may be required by Premier Care Management (PCM)

directors or such other officer as may be authorised by the directors.

 

Education & Experience

  • Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People).
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) (“the
  • Level 5 Diploma”) or a qualification which the registered provider considers to be equivalent to
  • the Level 5 Diploma preferred
  • Current valid UK Driving Licence and business motor insurance
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people in a senior role
  • Understanding legislative and regulatory frameworks, including Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, as well as the Children Act 1989 (2004) and the Equality Act 2010
  • Ability to plan effectively to meet the needs of Children Looked After (CLA);
  • Ability to develop and implement best practice, and in particular through the DDP model of Care
  • Project work and presentation skills
  • Ability to use IT confidently.
