PE Global is recruiting for a Maintenance Safety Specialist on behalf of our biopharmaceutical client in Dublin. This is an initial 12-month contract role.

The Role

The GMP Reliability & Maintenance Team is seeking to fill the role of contract/contingent Maintenance Safety Supervisor. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering Reliability Maintenance (with a dotted reporting line into the EOHSS Associate Director), this person will support the team in ensuring the highest levels of Safety compliance are applied in the field, within a busy, safety focused environment. The role will be heavily operationally focused, with in the field support for the team, finding workable solutions and mentoring/coaching on use of our safe systems of work.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

o Ensure the highest level of compliance to all regulatory Safety requirements within the team.

o Co-ordinate Safety related activities in the operating unit and to ensure sustained and continuous improvement in EOHSS compliance.

o Facilitate local compliance with the Incident/Accident management system (e.g. the SAFE system).

o Support SAFE IM investigations by providing SME input and CAPA completion, where required/assigned.

o Evaluate and promote a Safety Culture, embedding an intrinsically psychologically safe working environment.

o Attend weekly SAT (Safety Action Teams) forum to provide support and focus on necessary safety related themes/topics for discussion with Technicians and Engineers.

o Have complete oversight of area risk assessment program by ensuring non-routine tasks are identified and risk assessments are completed in a consistent and comprehensive way.

o Facilitate all RAMS reviews and approval with EOHSS by being the focal point within the group (Clean Utilities, Upstream, Downstream and Standalone/Process Support/Benchtop equipment).

o Be the liaison in the operating unit with EOHSS team for external audits. Network on EOHSS issues within the business and across operating sites. Ensure any incident learnings are communicated across the business and the wider site network.

o Support wellbeing of all staff on site in accordance with policies and regulations.

o Ensure safe working practices are written/documented and followed through.

o Ensure training and re-training of staff through by facilitating required facilitator led training courses.

o Maintain a training matrix, recording all relevant EOHSS training.

o Deliver ongoing continuous improvement to plant and processes when it comes to safe ways of working for a high performing team.

o Develop Safety compliance related metrics/KPIs/KBIs using appropriate data visualisation (e.g. using Spotfire/Tableau).

o Provide guidance, support and coaching to Reliability/Maintenance Technicians regarding safe ways of working in the field.

o Perform Safety focused field based GEMBAs at assigned intervals.

o Support development of Energy Control Plans, working alongside field Technicians.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:

o Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or working towards CMIOSH, coupled with 6 – 7 years experience in a relevant role in a regulated manufacturing environment.

o Have experience as an EHS professional working with process equipment in a biologics, pharma, chemical or food manufacturing facility is desirable (working alongside 24/7 shift teams also desirable – NB: Shift work is not a requirement for the role).

o Have experience in auditing, preferably experienced with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 standards.

o Have an in-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation.

o Have experience of risk assessment, auditing and incident investigation processes.

o It is essential that the candidate prioritises safety, quality and reliability in every task.

o Working knowledge of Maximo or equivalent CMMS system.

o Previous hands on/Technician experience, with exposure to LOTO practices would be desirable.

o High level of attention to detail and strong problem solving abilities.

o Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team, in a cross functional collaborative environment with all levels of the organisation as required and with interdisciplinary departments.

o Flexible and amenable to change with ability to work independently when required.
