PE Global, in partnership with our esteemed client in Galway, is seeking Staff Nurses to join a dynamic inpatient unit dedicated to geriatric care. Clear career progression path, with potential advancement to Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) for the right candidate.

Requirements:

  • Must be registered with the NMBI and hold a valid pin.
  • Have a min of 2yrs Irish experience in a geriatric setting
  • Completed a nurse managerial course
  • Good leadership skills

Clinical Responsibilities.

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans for residents within an agreed nursing model.
  • Administer prescribed medications in line with code of conduct in relation to administration of medications, and the Homes policy on administration of medications.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the co-ordination and delivery of care to residents.
  • Be an advocate for the individual resident and for his/her family. It also involves advocacy on behalf of nursing within the home and the management structures within which it is delivered.
  • Ensure that care is carried out in an empathetic and ethical manner that the dignity of the resident is given proper consideration.
  • Collaborate with the resident, their family, the interdisciplinary team to facilitate appropriate discharge planning and continuity of care.
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate written records and reports regarding residents in accordance with the Homes guidelines and within current legislation.
  • Participate in innovation and change in the approach to resident care delivery and contribute to service planning process, based on best practice and under the direction of the nursing director, particularly in relation to new research findings and advances in treatment.

Management Responsibilities

  • Take management responsibility for the home when required.
  • Delegate where appropriate to other members of the team.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with the residents, visitors and colleagues.
  • Communicate as appropriate with all staff and participate in ward meetings.
  • Manage the resources provided in an effective and economic nature.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, infection control and risk management procedures and participate in their development, to comply with the Homes policies and procedures.
